What is ChatGP?

ChatGP works in parallel with InstructGP and is trained to execute an instruction in an instant and provide an in-depth response. We’re excited to share ChatGP with you in order to gather user feedback and understand its advantages and disadvantages.

ChatGP can be accessed at no cost during the research preview. Try ChatGP today at the chat. Openai.com.

ChatGP, also known as the ChatGP Auto-Generative System, is an AI conversational tool developed by OpenAI. It is not a chatbot but rather a language model. It is commonly used in NLP applications. It collects data from different sources such as websites, textbooks, and various articles to improve its language for responding to human conversation.

ChatGP was first released as a prototype on 30th November 2022. It gained a lot of attention from the artificial intelligence community because it is trained to answer any question on any subject under the sun. Since it is conversational, it is considered as a momentous tool by the AI community.

OpenAI is a start-up company focused on responsibly developing AI technology. Founded by Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Greg Brockman, and others in 2015.

Starting point of ChatGP

ChatGP follows a family of language models developed by OpenAI in the year 2018. It’s a neural network. Reinforcement Learning is the name given to the training process and technology. You can think of a neural network as a giant network of computers that fine-tune their output of words according to the feedback they receive throughout the training process. They often use large text corpora as input data. All of these technologies are part of the fast-growing field of artificial intelligence (AI), commonly referred to as machine learning.

ChatGP is the next generation of the GPT-3.5 language model. It was launched in early 2022 and each model is more advanced than its prototype. GPT-3, for example, had 175 billion parameters and searched almost all information on the web and in many other transcript documents. Because ChatGP’s neural networks have also been trained on conversational transcripts with human input, they’ve refined their answers from essay-to-conversation text.

Other language models are also popular in the AI community. Google’s

ChatGP, on the other hand, seems to work best for informal conversations.

Characteristics of ChatGP

ChatGP is more than just a chatbot, it can

write a code

write an article

translate

debug

and write a story/poem.

It can write a program and even write a software application if you ask it. Therefore, it is suitable for a chatbot, an AI system conversation, and a computer-generated assistant. It answers questions naturally during communication and can write stories/poems. It understands the context of the conversation and comes up with appropriate responses.

Another important feature is its ability to generate consistent and cohesive text even with a small amount of input. This is due to the use of Modifiers that represent long-distance dependencies in the input text and generate consistent word sequences. It is also due to the self-attention mechanisms which allow the network to weigh the position of various words/phrases in input text according to their importance in the context of the task.

Limitations

ChatGPT writes credible but false or meaningless answers. Correcting this problem is difficult because:

1. There is currently no true source of truth during RL training;

Training the model to “be more cautious” causes it to reject questions it can correctly answer;

The reason why supervised training results in wrong answers is that the best answer is determined by the model, not by a human demonstrator.

2. ChatGP is responsive to changes in the input phrase or multiple repetitions of the same question. For instance, given one question phrase, the model may assert that it does not know the answer. However, given a slight rephrasing, the model can correctly answer the question.

3. The model is often verbose and uses too many phrases. For example, it repeats that it is a language model trained at OpenAI. These problems are due to training data biases (trainers like longer answers that appear more complex) and known over-optimization problems.

4. The model would like to ask clarification questions when an ambiguous question is provided by the user. However, our existing models tend to guess the intent of the user.

5. We’ve taken steps to ensure that the model does not reject inappropriate requests, but sometimes it will respond to offensive prompts or show biased behavior.

We’re currently using the moderation API to flag or block specific types of dangerous content. However, we anticipate that it will have some false positives and negatives for the time being.

We look forward to collecting user feedback to support our ongoing efforts to enhance this system.

Will ChatGP take the place of human jobs?

So far we have talked about ChatGP, what it is, and how it works, but do we have to worry about replacing humans with ChatGP?

ChatGP and similar language models can automate a few things using NLP, such as customer support, data entry, and content creation. But ChatGP’s purpose is to support and enhance the work of people, not replace or replace them. It supports people to do their jobs effectively and efficiently.

Data scientists, engineers, and researchers are all human jobs that are needed for the advancement and operation of AI.

No matter how strong the AI-powered program becomes, it will never have the creativity or the mental quirks, it will never be a human (ChatGP is producing some great creative work).

AI systems need human inputs to learn and proper training from humans. It limits their information on current events. Human work is essential for smooth operation. Human fact-checkers and proofreaders are also essential for the work generated by a chatGP.

Chatgp Service

The first version of ChatGP was released to the public on 30 November 2022 by OpenAI, a San Francisco-based company that created the first GPT series (large language models; diffusion model used for image generation; and speech transcription model Whisper). At the time, the service was free and OpenAI planned to monetize it in the future.

ChatGP had more than one million users by December 2022.

By January 2023 the number of users had grown to over 100 million, making ChatGP the fastest-growing consumer application.

According to a Pew Research poll from March 2023, 14% of U.S. adults had tested ChatGP.

The most popular language is English, but ChatGP also works in a few other languages, with varying levels of accuracy.

There is no published peer-reviewed research on the topic of ChatGP yet.

As of 2023, the following countries block ChatGP:

The company offers an AI classifier tool, “AI classifier to detect AI written text” which attempts to detect whether a text is written by an artificial intelligence (AI) such as chatGP. However, OpenAI warns that the tool “is likely to generate a large number of false positive and negative results, sometimes with high confidence”.

Premium ChatGP Plus service

ChatGP Plus is a premium service launched by OpenAI in February 2023 for $20 per month. The company stated that the updated but still “experimental” version of the service would provide access in peak periods, with no downtime and priority access to the new features, as well as faster response speeds.

The GPT-4 version was released on 14 March 2023. It is accessible via API and only for premium users. However, the limit for premium users was 100 messages per four hours, and the limit was tightened to 25 messages per three hours due to an increase in demand.

ChatGP Plus subscribers were granted access to 3rd party plugins and a browsing mode with Internet access in March 2023.

In July 2023, OpenAI also released its open-source code interpreter plugin to all users. The code interpreter offers the following capabilities:

Data analysis and interpretation

Instant data formatting

Personal data scientist services

Creative solutions

Musical taste analysis

Video editing

File upload/download

Image Extraction

Chatgp Mobile app

OpenAI released an iOS ChatGP app in May 2023. The app allows users to sync their chat history and input their voice (using OpenAI’s speech recognition model Whisper). The company plans to launch an Android app later in the year.

Chatgp Other languages

In 2022, OpenAI met with Iceland’s President Guðni TH. Jónsson. In 2023, OpenAI worked with a group of 40 Icelandic volunteers to refine ChatGPT’s Icelandic conversation skills as part of Iceland’s efforts to protect the language’s heritage.

“Reporters compared ChatGPT, Google’s Bard, and Microsoft Bing to Google Translate,” PCMag reported. “Bilingual speakers of seven languages” were asked to complete a blind test. The languages tested were: “Polish, French, Korean, Spanish, Arabic, Tagalog, and Amharic.” The results showed that ChatGP outperformed Google Translate, as well as other chatbots.

Conclusion

What is ChatGP and how does it work? It’s no secret that Artificial intelligence is being developed to automate complex tasks and ChatGP will support and help in creating accurate content for people.

ChatGP is expected to be a subscription-based tool that won’t be free to use. In the first five days of its launch, ChatGP had more than one million subscribers.
