Growing up “all over the South,” Doohan’s hometown was Fort Smith (now Bentonville, Arkansas). He developed an interest in acting while in high school and in community theatre programs. After high school, Doohan interned with Elizabeth Barnes Casting, in Los Angeles, where he worked in a number of day jobs, including background extra and waiter, and was a tour guide at Universal Studios.
